The Restoration of Learning for the Restoration of Earth.

Envision a world where the profound journey of self-discovery begins in childhood, offering the freedom to explore one's identity and purpose long before reaching adulthood. Picture a nurturing, secure environment shielded from the adverse effects of pollution and toxins, as well as from behaviors that undermine our well-being. In this world, children are empowered to shape their education based on innate interests and passions, liberated from the constraints of an educational system that dictates what they should know and learn.

Imagine an educational paradigm that transcends the traditional 'outside in' approach of industrialized schooling, where children are not instructed on what to think but are adeptly guided on how to think. This transformative vision revolves around cultivating a more profound understanding of our interconnectedness with the planet and each other, instilling a sense of responsibility towards environmental sustainability and climate justice from an early age.

Welcome to our transformative educational community, where we not only envision but actively implement a future rooted in climate justice and holistic learning. Here's how we do it:

Restoration of Indigenous Epistemologies:
We prioritize the restoration of indigenous ways of knowing and understanding, celebrating the rich cultural and traditional heritage of South Africa. Our curriculum integrates indigenous wisdom, values, and practices into the learning process, fostering a deep connection with the land and a commitment to environmental stewardship.

Parenting Support and Collaborations:
We actively support parents in their journey of radicle care, climate justice, and raising free individuals. Collaborative initiatives encourage shared experiences, knowledge exchange, and the cultivation of a community that nurtures the principles of equity and sustainability.

Self-Directed Learning:
Empowering learners to take charge of their education, our center provides a supportive environment for exploring interests, passions, and curiosities. The emphasis is not just on reaching academic milestones but on the journey itself, fostering a love for learning that lasts a lifetime.

Community-Centered Education:
We believe in the power of community in the learning journey. Our close-knit community includes learners, educators, elders, youths, and mentors, creating an environment of collaboration, mutual support, and the exchange of diverse perspectives.

Holistic Learning:
Our programs go beyond traditional subjects, focusing on holistic development encompassing cognitive skills, emotional intelligence, physical health, environmental awareness, and social well-being. We recognize that true education extends into every facet of life.

Nature-Based Education:
Understanding our interdependence with the environment, our curriculum often unfolds outdoors. This nature-based approach connects students with the natural world, fostering a culture of responsibility towards the Earth and all its inhabitants.

Empowerment and Agency:
We champion the power of choice and personal agency. Encouraging learners to make decisions about their education fosters independence and self-confidence, preparing them to be active contributors to a just and sustainable society.

Reevaluation of Western Paradigms:
Critically examining dominant Western educational paradigms, we challenge their limitations. By doing so, we lay the foundation for a more inclusive, diverse, and culturally sensitive approach to learning.

Decolonization:
Actively working towards decolonizing education, we question and dismantle Eurocentric perspectives, addressing historical injustices and promoting cultural revitalization. Our commitment is to create an educational space that honors diverse voices and narratives.

Interconnectedness:
Emphasizing the interconnectedness of all aspects of life, our approach highlights the inseparable nature of education, community, and the environment. We cultivate a mindset that understands the profound impact each individual can have on the collective well-being of the planet.

How Do We Engage?
Aligned with the belief that learning is a natural process, our facilitators support and guide experiences to be as textured as possible. Through a combination of play and a Pedagogy of Connection, we create a recipe for lifelong learning. Workshops, invitations, learning journeys, and exchanges are tailored to inquiries, events, intentions, or curiosity, providing a dynamic and responsive educational experience for all.

Our Philosophy

We are deeply rooted in Ubuntu and the ability to respond to a world in crisis, I am because You are and they were. Values of community and regenerative ways of life, acknowledging nature, the skies, and the spiritual. We believe that through a community working together for one purpose to sustain a good life for all we are able to raise youth with an awareness of social issues and creativity to navigate themselves and ourselves through life.

People young and old develop skills and learn according to their own natural rhythms, and we trust that each person, is capable of learning on their own continuum and in their own time and their own unique way.

Nature and the carefully executed environment around the person provide them with everything that they need to successfully grow and learn all that they need to learn.

So natural learning means that people are learning on their own NATURAL timeline (meaning we do not push them to learn things before they are developmentally ready or force them to do meaningless tasks that don’t support a natural development) and within the NATURAL world (using Mother Nature and the home/classroom environment to support the learning journeys).

Hence when subscribing to the Reimagined Learning community, You are subscribing to hold space for your personal growth and that of your youths.
